The West Virginia Board of Physical Therapy is legislatively mandated to license and regulate the physical therapist, physical therapist assistants and athletic trainers who wish to work in West Virginia.  The Board is mandated to interpret the scope of practice for physical therapy and athletic training, write regulations, and discipline licensees who have violated the law.

The most important function of the Board is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of West Virginia citizens.
